PERSONAL JOURNAL:
SIN ( Mark 6:50 ): Even the disciples had fears when Jesus was doing amazing and powerful things to and around them, so I guess maybe I shouldn’t feel so bad about this but I do. I do lack in spiritual courage, Father, as I am often living in fear…fear of not being able to take care of my family; fear of something bad happening to my family, fear of allowing the wrong words to come out of my mouth; fear of offending some people. You tell us here to have courage and to not be afraid. Please forgive me for my lack of faith oftentimes, Father. Help me to continue to grow stronger, more courageous, and less fear-filled.
PROMISE ( Mark 6: 10-11 ): In this verse, I see Jesus making a promise without actually saying so to the disciples on their first mission out healing and preaching without Him. This promise was that all things would be taken care of for them because God is with them. Oftentimes I hear these same words whispered to me but I fail to truly listen to the words and instead depend on self. Help me to become better at accepting your promises into my heart, Father.
ATTITUDE ( Mark 6: 50 ): I need to fully embrace this attitude in my heart. I need to live in the courage You time to me so that I do not continue to live in the fear the enemy and my flesh gives me. Help me to be understand this, Father, but also to better accept this attitude into who I am in this life.
COMMAND ( Mark 6: 37-38, 41-42 ): Jesus have His disciples a command to feed the people. They were willing, but they were looking at their own means, capabilities, and possessions to do so instead of leaning on God. He command I see today in this scripture is that it God tells me to do something, He will provide the means to do that something. I do not need to worry about my own limitations or understanding because God will ensure His mission will be provided for. Man, that is powerful, but I often find myself leaning on myself and not You, Father, for provisions to do Your will in my life. Help me.
EXAMPLE ( Mark 6: 31 ): I love this example from Jesus to the disciples. He told them to come away in a remote place away from all the worldly stressors for some rest and recuperation. I fail to do 5his so often in my own life, but the times that I do, I feel Your presence, Father; I feel You rejuvenating me. Thank You for 5his great example to live by this morning.
*DAILY NOTE: The stories Mark is telling in today’s scripture and the lessons You are teaching through his writings are just as relevant today as they were back then. Help me to embrace these lessons in my life, Father, so that I may be a better vessel for Your mission for me in this life. Help me to listen better, recharge more often, and lean on You more often in this life, Father, so that I may be better equipped for Your will to be done and not my own. Thank You for the amazing lesson today and for the great and timely teaching You always provide to me.
