Quiet Time in Mark 16

PERSONAL JOURNAL:

SIN ( Mark 16:14 ): The disciples themselves, who were told they Jesus directly about the prophesy and learned about it growing up did not believe He had been resurrected. Jesus rebuked them for their disbelief/unbelief. I must admit, Father, I have had doubts throughout my life about the scripture, Jesus, and even You at times. I’m sorry for those doubts, Father. Please forgive me for them and continue to remind me of Your truth and that You are the ONLY truth.

PROMISE ( Mark1 16:7 ): The Angel in Jesus’ tomb informed them that He had been resurrected and will go ahead of them to Galilee just as He had promised. He promised them He’d be back and the Angel just confirmed the promise has been fulfilled!

ATTITUDE ( Mark 16:14 ): Multiple times after being told by witnesses of Your resurrection, Your disciples had doubts and did not believe these words. Several of them literally had to see You with their own eyes in their presence in order to believe You have been resurrected. I feel like I have this attitude towards my faith at times as well.  Sometimes I do find it hard to believe that what I’m hearing or seeing is actual truth from You. Unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury of seeing You walk up to me right now as it is not time for Your return, yet. Help me to be better at spiritual discernment, Father, along with embracing deep in my heart the truth revealed to me by the spirit.

COMMAND ( Mark 16:15 ): Jesus told His disciples to go into the world and preach to Your creation all of the Gospel.  I feel this is a command to all of Your followers, but one that I’ve been failing at horribly. I don’t like talking to strangers for some reason, but Your command is to preach Your truth to all of them. Help me become more comfortable and confident in speaking Your truth, Father, but also more comfortable speaking to strangers.

EXAMPLE ( Mark 16:20 ): Although Your disciples made a lot of mistakes along the way, they tried to do their best at being faithful to Your commands. This is evident in this verse. After Jesus spoke to them about sharing the Gospel with the world, they did so. I need to get better at my spiritual follow through, Father. I often hear things from You which I should or shouldn’t be doing and I often ignore it for some reason or drag my feet on it. Help me be quicker to act, Father.

*DAILY NOTE: Mark was definitely not a very wordy writer like Matthew, Luke, and John were. This was a short take on the Gospel from Mark with many different perspectives on things. It’s clear that You wanted multiple perspectives giving their testimonies on what they had witnessed with Jesus. I thank You for that, Father, because it gives a greater picture in my mind of all that Jesus did for us.
