PERSONAL JOURNAL:
SIN ( Mark 13:10 ): This verse speaks rather loudly to me today. Jesus told His disciples that the good new must FIRST be proclaimed to all. Not second; not when I feel like it; not if I’m comfortable—first. I will admit, I’m not the first to speak Your good news in most situations, Father. Please forgive me for this. Help me to be more confident in that the Spirit will provide the words. Help me to be more confident that I will not delve into my flesh in those moments, but remain in the Spirit, Father.
PROMISE ( Mark 13:13 ): This verse is almost a double promise. The first part promises that there will come a time when I am hated by others for my faith in You. Sad to say that I’m already seeing this promise come to fruition in some respects. The second promise, however, says that those who endure this hatred will be delivered, freed, and saved! I must endure for Your kingdom, Father.
ATTITUDE (Mark 13:13 ): Going back to this verse, I also see a very crucial attitude adjustment I need to work on with Your help—endurance. Help me to be better at enduring the bad times in this life, Father, so I may glorify You more in those times and praise You more in the good times.
COMMAND ( Mark 13:21-23 ): This is a tough one to discern on a day-to-day basis, but I am grateful that You have given me a heart of discernment on this topic. Your command is to always be on alert for the false prophets that claim to be the Messiah as there will be many and none of them are from You. Help me to continue to abide in this, Father.
EXAMPLE ( Mark 13:35-37 ): You provide the disciples with such great advice an examples to follow. I think the biggest example takeaway I have from today’s scripture is to always be alert. I do not know when You will return to us, but I do know that there will be a lot of false claims and a lot of negative events between now and then. Help me to endure and to always be alert, Father.
*DAILY NOTE: Today’s scripture is speaking to me about my day to day endurance. I know I have struggled with consistency in my quiet times as of late, Father. At the same time, I also know You are always there for me no matter what. Thank You for Your consistency, Father. No matter the mistakes I make or the inconsistencies I have in this life, You are and have always been faithful to me and accepting of me. Thank You for this, Father, as I really do appreciate and need every ounce of it from You.
