Quiet Time in Luke 9

Writer's picture: FilipFilip

PERSONAL JOURNAL:

SIN ( Luke 9:23 ): Coming at me kinda hard today, Father, but thank you because I needed this reminder.  I definitely do not abide in taking up my cross and denying myself daily, unfortunately.  I often give into my fleshly desires instead of denying my flesh and taking up my cross. Please forgive me for my disobedience,  Father. Help me to be and do better daily.

PROMISE ( Luke 9:22 ): Jesus made the ultimate, but likely very shocking,  promise to His disciples here. He promised them than the Son of Man must suffer greatly, be killed, and will then be resurrected on the third day! Thank You not only for this amazing promise, but also the fulfillment.

ATTITUDE ( Luke 9:23 ): Coming back to this verse, I feel this is an adjustment I truly need to embrace in my life and in my heart. I need to embrace the fact that I must have an attitude of denying myself DAILY and taking up my cross DAILY.  Not when I feel like it. Not when things are going bad. Not just because someone else is watching.  Help me with my heart condition on this, Father.

COMMAND ( Luke 9:26 ): I get what You are saying in this verse, Father. I hear Your command to me today.  I need to be better at speaking up about my faith. I need to stop being quiet and ashamed about what You’ve done in my life and about Your truths! Help me to follow this command better in my life, Father. Help me to bring Your words to life when I speak so that I may honor You through all things.

EXAMPLE ( Luke 9:27 ): I have no clue if the disciples truly grasped what Jesus said here or not, but He basically said in the Filip translation that there are some who will never experience the new life YOU offer us in this life until it’s too late and they’re kneeling in front of You for judgment in Your kingdom. WOW! You didn’t hold back any punches, Father. This life is short and experiencing the new life You have given me has been amazing.  Thank You.

*DAILY NOTE: I’m not going to lie, Father. I really needed this today.  You know I’ve been struggling a bit with everything going on. You also know my heart and You are trying Your best to get me back on track. Thank You for all that You do for me, Father, and for never giving up on me.
