Quiet Time in Luke 17

PERSONAL JOURNAL:

SIN ( Luke 17:10 ): I have been living so selfish for so long, Father. Here Jesus says to do things because we’re commanded to do so, not for an expectation of a return.  I have been living my life the wrong way for so long, Father. Not always,  but I often do things You’ve commanded me to do with the expectation of a return of some type, although not necessarily from You. I repent of this today,  Father, and ask for Your forgiveness. Please continue to use the Holy Spirit to remind me of this, Father. I know I’ll screw this up again at some point,  but my prayer today is that it will become less frequent and that with the help of the Spirit I will notice it far sooner.

PROMISE ( Luke 17:19 ): Such a powerful verse here. 10 people were healed,  but only the Samaritan returned to Jesus to give thanks. Jesus tells him that his faith healed him. I have faith and You have brought so much healing to me through my faith,  Father. Thank You so much for all of it.

ATTITUDE (Luke 17:10 ): This verse serves as a powerful reminder for me. I need to ensure I have the mindset that I’m doing things in this life because You have commanded me to do so with zero expectations of a return for my efforts. Please continue to use the Spirit to help me with this, Father, so that I do not continue to get back into a slump of doing things in this life which You have commanded me to do.

COMMAND ( Luke 17:10 ): I see You are speaking rather loudly to me today in this one verse. Obviously it’s a struggle of mine that You are wanting to me to work on. Help me to follow this command,  Father, so that what I am doing in this life is truly pleasing to You as well as to do it with no expectations of a return to me in this life.

EXAMPLE ( Luke 17:12-19 ): THE Samaritan who was healed in these verses is such a powerful example to live by. Oftentimes,  I forgot to offer You praise and thanks for all the things You do for Me and that’s not how You want me to live this life. If I am to be in a true and committed relationship with You, then I need to remember to give thanks often, just as the Samaritan did immediately here.

*DAILY NOTE: AS always  Father, such powerful words spoken to me by You today through Your word. Thank You for such an amazing Truth spoken to my heart today  I know I have a lot to work on and I am trying.  I do regress at times, though,  and I am sorry for that. Please continue to help me be better through Your word, the Spirit,  and my brothers in Christ to sharpen me.
