PERSONAL JOURNAL:
SIN ( Luke 16:13 ): Father, You say here that nobody can be a slave of two masters because there will undoubtedly be favoritism towards the other. I must confess, that I have often put other things and people above You in my life. Right now I’m serving my wife to the point of pain and exhaustion not completely because You’ve charged me to do so as Christ loved the church, but mostly because she wants separation and likely divorce and I love her so much that I must do whatever it takes to redeem this marriage. Please forgive me for my motives behind these actions, Father. Although my actions glorify Your kingdom, my motives are not for such a thing right now, unfortunately. Help me to remain kingdom-focused, Father.
PROMISE ( Luke 16:31 ): This verse is funny because I don’t believe anyone there truly realized what Jesus was telling them in the moment. He was not only giving them a tell to the future events soon to come regarding His ultimate sacrifice for us, but also speaking about Himself rising from the dead after the sacrifice. His promise here is seen even today. Jesus died for our sins and rose 3 days later from the dead, yet people are still not persuaded by this, just as Jesus stated here. Wow!
ATTITUDE ( Luke 16:15 ): Lord, help me to truly walk in the steps that Jesus speaks of here. I do sometimes do things in this life to be admired by others, but Jesus says that admiration by the people of this life is revolting to You. I should not have an attitude to seek the admiration of others, Father. I should embrace an attitude to only work towards doing things that are pleasing to You and in Your will for me. If others admire me for that, then so be it, but that should never be my goal nor intentions.
COMMAND ( Luke 16:10 ): I must be faithful in all things You bless me with in this life, whether big or small. That is the command You have given today in this verse.
EXAMPLE ( Luke 16:14-17 ): Jesus always handled the Pharisees with such greatness and wisdom in His words towards them and around them. These were the most powerful spiritual leaders and really leaders in general at the time. If He ticked them off too much, which He just kept pushing and pushing but in the right way, then things would escalate quickly. Jesus kept calm and simply spoke Your truth to them, which made them upset but also made it very difficult for them to do anything about what You said to them. Thank You for this great example, Father.
*DAILY NOTE: I’m struggling right now, Father. I love You so much and have done so many changes in my life for You and Your kingdom; changes which I feel You have wanted me to do for so very long. Unfortunately, I have failed as a husband and spiritual leader to my home, Father, because my wife’s faith is faltering to almost non-existence which has caused the enemy’s attack to overtake her more than I can help with and more than she can handle. I do not know what to do other than pray to You and ask for Your intercession here, Father. I appreciate today’s conversation with You in Luke 16 and humbly ask You to please help my wife and my marriage, Father.
