PERSONAL JOURNAL:
SIN ( Luke 1:42 ): Even though she’s speaking to a woman here, I felt this in my heart. I really need to embrace this statement in my own heart, although I do struggle with this at times. She says that she is the most blessed woman and her child will be blessed. Please forgiving me for not always accepting this truth from You in my own heart, Father. I am so very blessed by You, yet I still have complaints and don’t always feel I am blessed in this life. Help me to be better by reminding me often just how blessed I am.
PROMISE ( Luke 1:76-77 ): John’s Father gave a short speech to his newly born son, John, concerning his destiny. The promise here is that John would make a way for Jesus, which he did. Even Jesus repeated this later on when they finally met, so the promise was fulfilled!
ATTITUDE ( Luke 1:42 ): Going back to this verse, I definitely need a change of heart here. I am so blessed from You, Father, yet I do often struggle to truly embrace that as my identity and the truth You have spoken over me. Help me to remember this, to embrace this, and to live this out in my life that no matter what happens in this life, I am truly blessed by You.
COMMAND ( Luke 1:79 ): The very last words the father spoke over John when he was born were that while John’s paving the way for Jesus, that Jesus would come from on high to visit and shine on us and to guide our feet into the way of peace. The way of peace is the piece I see as a command from You today. Although we aren’t to be push overs at the same time we are supposed to be walking with Your peace in us. I need to be better at this because I do get angry and aggravated quite often in this life, unfortunately. Help me, Father.
EXAMPLE ( Luke 1:46-55 ): Mary seems to always provide great examples to live by. Here, speaking to Elizabeth, she speaks such great words to Elizabeth but also speaks so humbly about her relationship with You. She says yet again that she is Your slave and that You have looked with favor on her. Thank You for revealing Mary’s great examples to me, Father. I pray that I can also live humbly as Your slave in this life far more than I have been.
*DAILY NOTE: I am glad I split this rather lengthy chapter up into two days. It was very powerful for me to read them separately and to journal on them separately. Thank You for a great testimony of John’s birth, but also Mary’s experience during that time as well. Such great words are spoken by Mary and Zechariah during this time and I’m glad I was able to focus on just these two conversations. Thank You, Father.
